It’s day 13 of January Blog a Day, and I thought I’d spend a bit of time catching up on what others have been blogging about. Here are my ten top posts from others who are taking part in the adventure in chronological order.
There are quite a few bloggers out there taking on the January Blog a Day challenge, and it’s been interesting reading how everyone has a slightly different angle on the daily theme. So, to spread the love, I thought I’d share some with you.
Here goes!
1) “Two” on Just une petit mot
While there are many things that would probably be good to steer clear from conversation with your partner — “honey, have you gained weight” and “you’re starting to bald” included — my husband and I found that there are other more mild things we should also not say to one another.
Ah, marriage. I’d add “fine” as a response to any question. Even if it was “What’s the word that has four letters, starts with ‘f’ and ends with ‘ine’?”
2) “Pet Peeves” on ‘Sota is sexy
Perhaps the most awkward slip up is the improper use of the “winky face”. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve intended to send a happy face but have mistakenly included a winking eye that undoubtedly made the party on the receiving end highly uncomfortable.
Emoticons. Love them or hate them, they’re easy to mess up. I’ve had my fair share of awkward emoticons.
3) “Biggest fear” on Aces’s Kitchen Scraps
I will probably be murdered by a polar bear. It will hunt me down and rip my face off for fun.
Awesome post and I literally laughed out loud at the polar bear trying to eat the kid through the glass.
4) “Biggest Fear” on Mountains & Musings
I love the song of a magpie.
I love it when they come and sing for mince or bacon.
I love ruffly maggie chicks.
Despite all this, I am shit scared of magpies.
When I was growing up, we used to have a resident magpie that would swoop people. The adults used to tell us stories of when he was younger and how they used to wear ice-cream buckets on their head with eyes drawn on the back to stop them. All class.
5) “Embarrassment” on C:/Nerd(run)
Practicing unclipping while propped on an indoor trainer and actually unclipping at a rapidly changing stop light are two totally different scenarios.
Been there, done that – I think every cyclist who’s tried clipless pedals has too. It wasn’t until I learned that you have to awkwardly lead with your heel, I stumbled and fell at the stop lights a number of times.
6) “Embarrassment” on Midwestern Bite
Worse than that was the long car ride home three hours later sitting on an ice pack in my pajamas
Ha! Fun read with bonus points for a husband with a sense of humour…
7) “Memory” on Shblog
“Hmmm, this IS pretty good. I’ve never had one before,” he assured me, as he munched happily away on the banana he had hidden in his shoe.
Really enjoyed this post about Larry’s dad as he dealt with Alzheimer’s disease.
8) “Memory” on tvjames x blog
Come to think of it, I do remember a lot of stuff. But maybe I feel like I don’t have a great memory because I don’t necessarily remember the right stuff.
This reminded me a little bit of this photo I saw posted on Facebook today.
9) “Confession(s)” on Constant State of Frolicking
And I have to make a second confession. I started to eat my dinner and then realized that I was supposed to take the photo first.
I’m bookmarking this for a recipe to try. It looks pretty simple… and tasty.
10) “Confession(s)” on Mommy Edwards
Real the full post… oh, you just did
That’s not all, folks!
